Free Spins Feature

To activate the bonus spins feature, you need to land 3 or more Book symbols in a single spin. The bonus spins feature will award you 10 bonus spins. 

Before entering the bonus spins round, players need to select a symbol to become the expanding symbol for that bonus round. During bonus spins, after the regular wins pay out, the selected symbol expands to fill the reel it landed on, but it only does so if a winning combination is possible.

The Free Spins Feature can be retriggered by landing 3 or more Book symbols again; this awards 10 more bonus spins. There is no limit on how many times this can be retriggered.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

Like all Pragmatic Play slots, Book of Fallen comes with gorgeous 2D graphics and animated symbols. The background is the inside of an Egyptian tomb with animated flames illuminating the environment. At times, you can even spot a scorpion running across the floors.

All symbols perfectly adhere to the Egyptian theme. You have the regular A, K, Q, J, and 10 playing card symbols that fill the role of low-value symbols. You can find John Hunter himself among the high-value symbols, followed by the Pharaoh, Anubis and Ankh. The Book symbol is both the scatter and wild of this game, and if you get 3 or more on a payline, it will raise up and spin above the reels. 

The music creates an atmosphere filled with mystique and takes you back to ancient Egypt. There are plenty of sound effects in the game, so many that they may be a bit disruptive at times. But if you are one for lively slots, it probably won’t be an issue. Fortunately, you can turn off the music and sound effects if need be.

Pragmatic Play is known for their fantastic games and is one of the most notable developers of top quality slots. John Hunter and the Book of Fallen is no exception. 

This slot takes a more minimalistic approach to slot gameplay, with only 10 paylines and 2 bonus features. But we have seen this work well in the past with similar games like Book of Dead by Play’n GO. 

Our only gripe with this otherwise stellar game is that it bears too many similarities to John Hunter and the Book of Tut slot by the same developer. Granted, the ancient Egypt theme is extremely common, and it is not always easy to come up with fresh ideas, but we would’ve liked to see more originality in this slot. 

However, Book of Fallen is still far above average, as expected from Pragmatic Play. So, if you don’t mind the overused theme, then this is a slot worth trying!
